District 191 third-graders are winners in city essay contest

Three students from Burnsville-Eagan-Savage School District 191 are winners of an "I Love Burnsville" essay contest sponsored by the city of Burnsville. Students were honored at the Burnsville City Council meeting on June 7. The three winning students read their essays out loud at the meeting.

Winning essays were written by Cecelia Edward (teacher Luke Bearth) from Edward Neill Elementary, Roma Baregi Estrada (teacher Megan Bartling) from Gideon Pond Elementary, and Clayton Jenstad (teacher Susan Zucollo) from Gideon Pond Elementary. Winners, along with their teachers, received $100 awards.

Students (and their teachers) earning honorable mention and receiving $50 awards were:

  • Bariira Aziz (teacher Andrea Traetow) from Gideon Pond Elementary
  • Ethan Campos (teacher Andrea Traetow) from Gideon Pond Elementary
  • Isabella Iseri (teacher Lisa Stoltz) from Sky Oaks Elementary

The essay contest was part of “I Love Burnsville Week," which happens annually in early June.
